Explore one of the last true wilderness places on earth as you visit Patagonia and the spectacular landscape of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, one of South America’s most famous parks; see the famous glaciers of Argentina and relax with city breaks in both countries’ capital cities, Santiago and Buenos Aires.
Including seven days in Southern Patagonia this trip will be a comprehensive introduction to this wonderful part of the world. From the steppes of Chile to the country’s most celebrated national park and from the most famous glaciers and mountains in Argentina to the splendour of its capital, Buenos Aires; this itinerary will be an awe inspiring journey to two of Latin America’s most beautiful countries.

Depart the UK from your chosen airport.
On arrival into Santiago you will be met and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to relax and start exploring the city at your own pace.
Today you will be picked up after breakfast by your driver and guide and taken for a full day excursion to the Casablanca Valley and the port town of Valparaiso. Located about 80 km from Santiago, the Casablanca Valley has rapidly become Chile’s most important grape growing region. As part of this tour you will take a tour and wine tasting with lunch at one of the many wineries that are part of this flourishing wine route. The journey will then continue to Viña del Mar, a resort city famous for its beautiful gardens and then to Valparaiso, the oldest and most important port of Chile. Here you will have the opportunity to walk around the city’s winding streets, admire its colourful buildings and take its famous funicular before returning to Santiago.

After breakfast you will be collected by your driver and taken to the airport for your flight to Punta Arenas. On arrival you will be met at the airport and taken on a tour to discover the cultural and natural wonders of this southern city. Later in the day you will be driven to Puerto Natales, the gateway town to Torres del Paine, and where you will spend the night.
Today you will head to Torres del Paine National Park. Along the way you will stop to visit the Mylodon Cave where giant sloths lived about 10,000 years ago. As the drive takes you through the beautiful Patagonian steppes, you will go past Laguna Amarga where you will have the opportunity to look for local wildlife. You will check into your hotel near the National Park where you will spend the night.
In the morning you have the time to relax or enjoy one of the optional excursions offered by your hotel and in the afternoon you will head back to Puerto Natales for your overnight stay.
Today after breakfast, make your own way to Puerto Natales bus terminal where you will catch a bus to El Calafate. The journey takes around 6 hours depending on the time it will take to cross the border. The buses are comfortable so sit back, relax and enjoy the landscapes around you. Once in El Calafate you will be met by your driver and taken to your hotel in town. The rest of the day is for you to enjoy.
A full day tour to the Perito Moreno awaits you today after a beautiful drive of over an hour with stops along the way to enjoy the views and catch glimpses of local wildlife including guanacos, large Patagonian hares, armadillos and if you are lucky, pumas and condors. The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the world’s largest reserves of fresh water and one of the few glaciers that is advancing instead of retreating. You will take a guided tour of the area around the glaciers and if you wish you can add a mini trekking on the ice itself!
You will depart early morning from El Calafate and head along the famous Route 40 through spectacular scenery to reach the Andean village of El Chalten. This area is famous for its trekking routes and its landscapes and mountains so beautiful that it is nicknamed the Torres del Paine of Argentina. Here you will be advised on different walking routes according to your physical condition. You will also be provided a map and a boxed lunch. The walking routes are very clearly marked and very easy to follow. In the late afternoon after meeting with the group you will head back to El Calafate.
Today it’s time to say goodbye to Patagonia and catch a flight to Buenos Aires. You will be driven to the airport in El Calafate and picked up by your driver once arrived in the capital. Here you will check into your hotel and will have the rest of the day free ato explore.
This morning after breakfast you will join a small group for a half day city tour. A minivan will take you around the main sights of Buenos Aires and an English guide will explain the history and culture of this vibrant city. You will also visit the Cementerio de la Recoleta where Eva Peron is buried and the famous La Boca district with its colourful buildings. The afternoon will be at leisure.
Free day at leisure to explore the city at your own pace and as it is your last night in the capital of tango we have also included a live tango show with return transfers.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport to catch your flight back to the UK.
Torres del Paine has dry periods from January to March, April to June and August to December, the warmest month is January reaching around 11c and the coldest July where temperatures drop below freezing. May is the wettest month so avoid travelling at this time if you dont like rain.
Patagonia reaches temperatures of around 22c in the summer months running from November to February and 0c in the winter from May to August, wind-chill can often make the temperature feel around 6c colder than what it actually is.
