Praslin Island is the second-largest of the Seychelles’ islands and boasts a tranquil, laidback atmosphere. Stretching for almost 40 square kilometres, the island is full of lush and tropical jungle, fringed by sugary beaches and lapped by turquoise waters. Rumoured to have been a pirate hideout in the 1700s, today it is a popular island for visitors, thanks to the friendly locals, pretty beaches and ancient palm groves.
You’ll be staying at the Coco de Mer Hotel Black Parrot Suites, which sits in a 200 acres forest on the edge of the water. This boutique hotel enjoys a secluded location, tucked into the granite cliffside and overlooking the blue ocean. Relax in the infinity pool, watch the sunset whilst eating dinner on the beach and indulge in the spa.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the port to catch the ferry over to Mahe. Here you will be met and taken to your hotel, where you will check in for five nights.
You’ll have 4 full days to explore the beautiful island of Mahé, where soft beaches sit alongside lush jungle and coconut palms sway in the breeze. There is even more beauty below the water – colourful reefs filled with clouds of pink and yellow fish, where manta rays glide slowly past.
Why not head out to hike along the lush trails of Morne National Park. There are so many spectacular walks here. The forests are full of jackfruit trees and fluttering sunbirds, as well as the world’s smallest frog – though they might be too small to find, you’re sure to hear their loud chirruping calls.
You’ll be staying at H Resort, on Beau Vallon Beach. Only 10 minutes from the capital, Victoria, this boutique resort is a haven of tranquillity, with charming creole hospitality and undisturbed views to boot.
