    Day 5: Agra to Jaipur

This morning you’ll head out to the Taj, spending the morning exploring this mighty building. As you learnt a lot about the history of the mausoleum last night, today you’ll be free to wander through the complex alone and really soak up this awe-inspiring wonder of the world. Built by an emperor in memory of his beloved queen, it took 18 years to complete, with craftsmen working around the clock on the intricate and romantic design. With perfect proportions and distinct femininity, legend says that once the construction was completed, Shan Jehan ordered the architect’s hands cut off, and blinded, so he would never be able to duplicate the structure.

Later today, you’ll take a tour of Agra Fort, where you’ll wander through the chambers of this ancient royal residence. The country was once governed from here, as well as containing the largest treasury and mint. Dignitaries and ambassadors from far off lands would be brought here, each one participating in the history of India. After this, you’ll be driven Jaipur, known as the ‘Pink City’, within the already colourful state of Rajasthan.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

    Day 6: Jaipur

After breakfast, you’ll spend the morning exploring the Amber Fort. This marvellous example of Rajput architecture is made up of terraces and ramparts, all a rich terracotta colour that is reflected beautifully in the lake below. Each room within the royal halls is decorated with intricate ivory artwork and exquisite murals, really showing off the pomp and grandeur of a kingdom that was never conquered.

In the afternoon you’ll take a tour of the city – starting at the City Palace Complex, you’ll learn about the local styles of paintings as well as the royal family that still lives in parts of the palace. In the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, you’ll find the Mubarak Mahal. Built in the nineteenth century, you’ll be able to view a huge range of textiles and costumes, including rare pashmina shawls, Benaras silk saris and folk embroidery. Across the road, you’ll look around the famous Jantar Mantar, one of the five observatories in India. Built to indulge the passionate hobby of astronomy by the king, they created complex astronomical instruments made of stone, which still provide accurate information on the heavens above, to this day. It’s a fascinating place to explore and learn about the twinkling skies above.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

    Day 7: Fly to Jaisalmer

Enjoy a relaxing morning before being driven to the airport for the short flight to Jaisalmer. Rising from the heart of the Thar Desert like a golden mirage, you’ll find the city of Jaisalmer. In the heart of the amber city, you’ll find the spectacular fort etched in yellow sandstone, it’s a truly incredible sight to behold.

This evening you’ll enjoy a special meal, the Thar Dinner, which pays homage to the culinary traditions of those who crossed the desert to reach Jaisalmer. This celebratory feast is served in a communal style, with tasselled canopies and mattress style seating all arranged under starry skies.

Included: Breakfast, transfers, internal flight, guiding, dinner, 5* hotel

    Day 8: Jaisalmer

After breakfast, you’ll head out to explore Jaisalmer city, starting at the famous fort. This sentinel in the vast desert is perched on a hill, housing the entire township within its ramparts. The maze of alleys are dotted with pretty havelis, Jain templates that date back 700 years and five different interconnected palaces. There are four gateways to enter, each from a different city of the majestic structure.

Your afternoon is yours to explore the city more or relax at your hotel, before heading off on a camel safari in the sand dunes. It’s an incredible way to experience the desert and watch the sun setting over the golden sand.

Included: Breakfast, guiding, camel ride, 5* hotel

    Day 9: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

This morning you’ll head off towards Jodhpur. An early start will give you plenty of time to explore the Blue City in the afternoon, starting at the Mehrangarh Fort. Set four hundred feet above the skyline of Jodhpur, this imposing building is made of a blushing sandstone and is known as the Citadel of the Sun. The fort itself is so huge that Rudyard Kipling called it ‘the work of giants’ and is one of the finest examples of a Hindu fortress. It also offers stunning views over the blue patchwork of homes across Jodhpur below.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

    Day 10: Jodhpur to Udaipur

It’s a driving day today - after breakfast you’ll be leaving Jodhpur and heading towards the glittering jewel in Rajasthan’s crown, Udaipur. Known as the most romantic city in the state, Udaipur is a city of lakes, temples and havelis. There are some beautifully manicured gardens too, but the real gem is the Lake Palace. Head out for a delicious dinner in the city, ready to explore with your guide tomorrow.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

    Day 11: Udaipur

You’ll start today with a visit to the City Palace, which houses the private residence of the Maharana of Mewar, who belongs to the oldest royal lineage in India. This palace complex is made up of several different palaces, all forming a single breath-taking façade almost a kilometre long overlooking Pichola Lake. Although built over many different eras, every additional section has been added so seamlessly that it seems all to fit together perfectly.

In the evening you’ll head out to enjoy a boat cruise on the calm waters of Pichola Lake, gazing up at the palace in the soft dusk light and enjoying views of the gardens along the waters edge.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

    Day 12: Fly to Mumbai

After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the airport for the short flight to Mumbai. On arrival, you’ll be driven to your hotel and check in for two nights. Mumbai is a cluster of seven Islands and derives its name from Mumbadevi, the patron goddess of the Kholi fisher folk, its oldest inhabitants. The islands were tossed from one king to another emperor for two millennia, until the maritime trade empire of the British decided to develop the natural harbour into a city. In the four hundred years since then, the city has grown by a series of land reclamations which now link the original islands into one mass.

Included: Breakfast, transfers, internal flight, 5* hotel

    Day 13: Mumbai

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore the exciting city of Mumbai. You’ll visit the Gateway of India, learning about this enormous structure made of yellow basalt, before taking a little cruise through the natural harbour. Next, you’ll head to Crawford Market, a beautiful  building with a large clocktower that dominates the skyline, with endless stalls selling fruits, vegetables and other delicious products. You’ll also have time to explore the Prince of Wales Museum, full of priceless art and Tibetan bronzes, before enjoying your afternoon at leisure. Why not head out to try some of Mumbai’s famous street food - a classic example is the “Pav Bhaji” – made initially by enterprising restauranteurs looking to use leftover vegetable from the previous night. These were mashed into a “bhaji” and sold to hungry mill workers at night.

    Included: Breakfast, guiding, 5* hotel

This morning, you’ll be driven to the airport early for your flight to the Seychelles.

    Days 15 - 19: Seychelles

You’ll have 4 full days to explore the beautiful island of Mahé, where soft beaches sit alongside lush jungle and coconut palms sway in the breeze. There is even more beauty below the water; colourful reefs filled with clouds of pink and yellow fish and manta rays gliding slowly past.

Why not head out to hike along the lush trails of Morne National Park. There are so many spectacular walks here. The forests are full of jackfruit trees and fluttering sunbirds, as well as the world’s smallest frog – though they might be too small to find, you’re sure to hear their loud chirruping calls.

In Mahe, you’ll be staying at the Constance Ephelia. Nestled in a little bay on the northwest coast of the island, this hotel is a wonderful place to finish your honeymoon. Relax in the lush landscapes, snorkel in the Port Launay National Park and soak in the ocean views from the infinity pool. Dine at the Adam & Eve restaurant which specialises in Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine or sip a cold glass of wine at the Helios Bar overlooking the pool. You’ll be in the Beachside Villa, with your own private pool to enjoy.

    Included: Breakfast, transfers, international flights

    Day 21: Arrive UK

The best time to visit India is from November to March. From April onwards the temperatures rise in preparation for the monsoon rains that follow during the summer months – travel is possible during this time but you should expect high humidity, torrential downpours and possible transport delays.

There is no bad time to go to Seychelles - these islands have wet and dry seasons, but tropical downpours can happen at any time, while the sun can shine throughout the wetter months. The best months to visit Seychelles are April, May, October and November. These shoulder season months are the most pleasant time, between the hot and humid wet season from November to March and the dry and cool season from April to October.
