Best time to visit

The ideal time to visit the Great Barrier Reef is during the dry season, between April and November. You'll find mild temperatures and minimal rainfall, with various events happening throughout the Australian Winter, including the Hamilton Island Race Week, a sailing event in August. From June to September you'll also have the opportunity to see whales as they migrate up the coast.
