Providencia is an idyllic Caribbean island, remote enough to keep tourist numbers to a minimum and edged with gorgeous golden beaches. There are just two ways to reach this tiny island - taking a twenty-minute flight from neighbouring San Andres Island or setting sail with a three-hour catamaran ride. If you make it to this Caribbean jewel, you’ll be rewarded by a beach paradise with friendly locals and superb diving. Here, Creole traditions and customs have remained more or less intact over the years, adding to the charm of this sleepy tropical treasure.

On this trip, you’ll spend three nights in an award-winning boutique hotel surrounded by tropical forest, where you can just straight off the deck into the ocean. Snorkel with turtles, take a picnic to a deserted beach and explore mangroves with bright pink water.

Day 1: Arrive Providencia Island        

This morning, you will board a scenic 20- minute flight from San Andrés Island to Providencia. On arrival, you will be met and taken to your hotel for check-in. You’ll stay in a small-scale luxury beach resort voted the Best Boutique Hotel in Colombia, so you’ll be in excellent hands! The rest of day is free for you to enjoy and relax. Swim in the Caribbean straight off the deck and soak up the sunshine.         

Day 2: Providencia Island    

Today is a free day to spend as you wish. Why not take a walk on the Puente de Amor to visit Santa Catalina Island, wander to the surreal red mangroves of Southwest Bay or book a local snorkelling tour to explore the hidden bays on Providencia? While the hotel isn’t set on a beach, it offers a free shuttle service daily to a handful of hidden coves on the island.         

Day 3: Providencia Island    

After breakfast, today is another at leisure. You could choose to hike up to the highest point on the island to have a 360-degree view of the island’s coral reefs and multi-coloured sea. On the way, you’ll walk through a rainforest, spotting dozens of species of tropical birds in the canopy. If you prefer to be on the water, grab a paddle and kayak around the tiny islands of the McBean Lagoon National Marine Park.

Day 4: Depart Providencia Island        

After breakfast this morning, you will be picked up and taken to the airport to take the short flight back to San Andrés. 

              

Providencia enjoys plenty of Caribbean sunshine throughout the year. August to November brings a higher chance of heavy rain, but this often comes in the form of afternoon showers that clear the air before the sun appears again.
