Explore the diverse Galapagos Islands without sleeping on a boat! From your beach-front base at the luxury Finch Bay Hotel on Santa Cruz Island, you’ll be able to discover this incredible part of the world in first-class style. Set in the heart of the archipelago, Finch Bay has been voted South America’s leading green hotel and one of National Geographic’s Luxury Lodges of the World. With several flexible travelling options, you can take day trips by land or on the hotel’s own yacht, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the islands and to relax, in the way that best suits you.
Named after the famous Darwin finches that live in the surroundings, the Finch Bay enjoys a unique beachfront location next to the only public beach in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Most of the National Park’s important visitor sites (islands like Bartolome, North Seymour, etc.) are reached easily via the hotel’s sea-based excursions on the Finch Bay’s yacht, so you won’t miss out on visiting the most famous islands in the archipelago. You can also choose from several land-based tours and try all kinds of activities, including kayaking, scuba diving, biking and hiking.
The Finch Bay is a small hotel with 6 suites and 21 rooms catering for a maximum of 54 guests, thus ensuring an intimate and personable experience. With Cordon Bleu gastronomy, freshwater swimming pool, hammocks in each room and spacious and comfortable rooms with plush beds and fine linens, a stay here will guarantee an unforgettable Galapagos holiday.
After landing at Baltra airport in the Galapagos Islands, you will be greeted by representatives of the lodge and accompanied to your accommodation. The total journey time should be around 45 minutes.
At the Finch Bay Hotel, you can choose from many different programmes to suit your interests and style of travelling. The starter package Finch Bay Your Way is perfect for designing your own adventure and from there, you can choose from the hotel’s list of activities.
Activities can be arranged on arrival at the lodge or you can pre-arrange a package by talking to your Ecuador consultant at Travel Nation. You can choose between a land-based programme for a full-day exploration on land or a sea-based itinerary with one full day island yacht exploration including visits to North Seymour, South Plaza, Santa Fe and Bartolome (islands will be confirmed upon booking aboard the vessel and are weather dependent). You can also decide to spend extra nights at the hotel to have time to relax or practice some of your favourite sports including diving, kayaking, surfing, and hiking.
On your last day and after breakfast you will be accompanied to Baltra airport for your onward flight.
The Galapagos Islands are an all year round destination thanks to their equatorial location. In general, June to December is generally called the ‘dry season’ which is known for its blue skies and mid-day showers. During this season, sea mammals and land birds are most active. December to May is considered the ‘warm season’, when the climate is more tropical with daily rain and cloudier skies and the water temperature is warmer for swimming and snorkelling. Island birds are especially active in this season. No matter what time of year you, great wildlife encounters are still guaranteed.
Private transfers and excursions are available – supplement available on request.
