Day 1: Transfer to Mashpi Lodge

You will be picked up from your hotel in Quito by representatives of Mashpi Lodge and driven to your accommodation in the Ecuador cloud forest. The journey time will be around 3 hours.

After settling in, you’ll be met by one of the lodge’s naturalist guides who will give you an introductory talk about the cloud forest and its conservation, and they will talk to you about the activities you can choose from during your stay here. This afternoon you can take part in your first activity.

Day 2: Mashpi Lodge and the Cloud Forest

Today you can choose from a range of activities including:

  • Birding: Sunrise bird-watching sessions from the lodge’s rooftop terrace
  • Expert-led nature walks
  • Wildlife spotting from an 85-foot observation tower offering majestic views of the forest
  • Swimming in the many rivers, waterfalls and natural pools of the Ecuadorian nature reserve
  • Night walks
  • Sky bike: a truly unique experience where you can cycle your way through the forest’s canopy, great fun for families!

Back in the lodge, you'll be served delicious meals at the Mashpi Lodge restaurant, where you can enjoy jungle views from the two-storey high glass windows.

Day 3: Depart Mashpi Lodge

After breakfast and check-out Mashpi Lodge will accompany you back to Quito.

The dry season runs from June to October and this is generally a good time to visit the rainforest. However, rain is to be expected at all times during the year, even the dry season. Short and sharp showers generally happen in the afternoons. If travelling between February and April rain is to be expected on most days.
