I started working for Travel Nation in 2023 after taking a break from the travel industry, due to the pandemic. During this time I got to run my own business from home, handmaking kids décor. I did this alongside raising my little boy, who is always on the go. I’ve always been a creative person and I love to take a sketchbook with me when I travel!
Chichester, West Sussex
Cornwall, UK. I studied Illustration & Business, all while exploring this beautiful part of the country!
After my travels, I planned to come home for a few months and save for the next adventure. I accepted a job at Flight Centre in 2016, and soon realised how much I loved sending other people off on their own adventures! After a little break from work due to the pandemic, I’m back doing what I love.
Hoi An, Vietnam. We only intended to stay for two nights, but we completely fell for its charm and ended up staying for a week. We stayed in a lovely little hotel between the town and the beach. It was perfect for cycling around, exploring both areas and watching local life go by.
Indonesia by far exceeded my expectations. I only expected to travel to Bali, but I ended up visiting Sumatra, Bali, Gili Islands and the Komodo Islands. The Komodo Islands are unlike anything I’ve seen. We spent our days snorkelling with manta rays, dolphins, and all kinds of fish while we explored tropical islands and beaches by boat. We hiked around Rinca Island, spotted the famous dragons, and watched the flying fox bats at sunset.
Sydney will always have my heart. I lived in Sydney for 6 months and it really does have everything. It’s a very chilled-out city and each area has its own attractions. Grab dinner at Darling Harbour, catch a ferry to Manly Beach for a walk (early morning before it gets too hot) and a dip in the natural sea pools along the coast, or take the train to the Blue Mountains for the weekend. There's just so much to do!
Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia
Togoro Plains Safari Lodge in the Northern Serengeti- the lodge is a collection of comfy tents nestled amongst rocks, with amazing views out over the plains. It’s so peaceful (apart from the distant roaring of Lions) and you really feel like you’re in the thick of nature. Waking up in the morning, unzipping my tent door to the sunrise was really a special moment- it’s the most magical place I’ve ever stayed.
Pink Beach in the Komodo Islands. As you pull up on the boat, you’re met with pristine pink sand and there isn’t another soul in sight. Bliss.
On Safari I was lucky enough to see so much amazing wildlife like cheetah, lions, elephants, hippos and lots of giraffe- it’s hard to pick out just one experience as the best! There were two highlights though- driving across the open plains and witnessing the migrations of the wildebeest, it was mind-blowing to see so many wildebeest and zebra all together, they were all running across the road as we slowly made our way through. My other highlight was seeing the flamingos in the centre of Ngorongoro Crater, there were so many, and I had no idea they flew in such a beautiful, synchronised way. Something I’ll never forget!
New Zealand! I’ve sent so many people off on their own adventures here, I’d love to do it all myself!
On Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, there’s a small seafood market and they serve the best hot pots!
In Australia, I sorted and packed oranges in New South Wales. It was really hard work, but it allowed me to save up and travel a little longer. I met some amazing people too!
My first experience of Asia and the starting point for my big trip was in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was a complete culture shock. It's so incredibly busy, and even crossing the road felt like a challenge. Now it's one of my favourite cities, and the best place in the world to people-watch with an iced coffee.
Singapore!
Apart from family and friends, it has to be Cadbury's chocolate. There’s nothing like it!
