On arrival into Ayers Rock Airport you will be met and taken to your hotel on the shuttle transfer, checking into your hotel for three nights. This evening, you'll head out to enjoy the spectacular Wintjiri Wiru sunset dinner in the heart of the desert.
Tuck into a gourmet dinner hamper with native ingredients combined with modern recipes to make some delicious snacks and a glass of Penfold wine. With the vast Uluru next to you, the dreamtime stories from thousands of years of Aboriginal history are now played out before you - choreographed drones, lasers and projections take flight, lighting up the night sky in a vast expression of the ancient Anangu story. It's a magical start your time in the Red Centre.
Wake up early for a sunrise trek around the base of Uluru, where you'll soak up the culture and geology of this incredible monolith. You'll learn the Dreamtime stories of creation from your guide, stories of Liru the poisonous snake and other tales associated with the iconic rock. Watch the sun rise as you walk, admiring waterholes, ancient rock art and learning about the culture as you go. If you'd rather head out for a tour without the walk, we can easily swap this - just ask!
The day is yours to relax or head to the pool before heading out again this evening. Tonight you'll enjoy another delicious dinner under the stars as you watch the Field of Light come alive as the sun sets. This incredible art installation is made of thousands of tiny lights, gradually coming to life as night falls - it's a magical place to experience. Add in some delicious canapés, sparkling wine and a three course dinner and you've got a wonderful night ahead of you.
Another early start will see you heading out to learn about local artwork and the natural environment from three local Anangu women. Feel the connection with the land as you chat to artists about the native landscape and indigenous experience.
In the afternoon you'll head out to visit Kata Tjuta, where you'll walking the windy Walpa Gorge to the Olgas. This incredible soft rock has been eroded over millions of years, leaving behind the remarkable Kata Tjuta rocks that you can now explore as you learn about their history and meaning to the Aboriginal people.
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and taken to the airport for your onward flight.
This trip can operate year round, however, please note that it will be very hot in the Red Centre during December. The Red Centre has a semi-arid climate; between December and February, temperatures range between 20c and 35c and in winter temperatures range between 3c and 20c. Autumn is a good time to visit the Red Centre with warm days and cool nights.
