Financial security is an important consideration when making travel arrangements, so we ensure that your booking with us is protected in several ways. We comply fully with all UK and EU regulations that exist to provide you with consumer protection.
If you book both flight and ground arrangements with Travel Nation (as opposed to booking with multiple tour operators), you’ll be entitled to greater financial protection because we are ATOL licenced and ABTOT bonded. On top of this, you’ll benefit from having a single point of contact, and we can offer advice and assistance for every part of your trip.
ATOL (9828)
Obtaining an Air Tour Organiser’s License (ATOL) is dependent on meeting stringent financial and professional criteria set by the UK government’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
ATOL protection applies to:
- All bookings that contain both flights and ground elements (e.g. hotels, tours, vehicle hire), anywhere in the world, as long as the international flights depart from inside the EU
- All flight only bookings, as long as the first international flight departs from the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
Some of the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme, which you will see marked by our ATOL logo. Non-ATOL products would be, for example, cruise only, accommodation only, packages that don't include flights flown from Europe. When you book with us, we will send you an ATOL certificate to confirm which elements of your trip are covered.
ATOL protection doesn’t apply to all holiday and travel services (notably, travel insurance, ticket date changes and ticket re-routes) so please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking. If you don’t receive an ATOL certificate, the booking will not be ATOL protected.
In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) would ensure that you're not stranded abroad. They will also arrange to refund any monies you have already paid to us towards booking.

ABTOT (5635)
The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT) provides financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 for Travel Nation Ltd 5635, and in the event of our insolvency, protection is provided for the following:
Non-flight packages
Flight-inclusive packages that commence outside of the UK, which are sold to customers outside of the UK.
Accommodation only bookings
ABTOT cover provides for a refund for our insolvency in the event you have not yet travelled, or repatriation if transportation was included in your package. Please note that bookings made outside the UK are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Travel Nation Ltd. The ABTOT scheme also financially protects bookings made by Travel Nation Limited as an agent.

IATA (91281164)
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is a trade body that represents most major airlines and helps formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues. You can feel reassured that Travel Nation and any travel agent displaying the IATA logo has been required to meet stringent financial and professional criteria.
Although IATA membership doesn't provide financial protection to passengers, this protection is provided by our ATOL protection as outlined above.
Do I get extra financial security if I pay by credit card?
The ATOL certificate that we issue to our customers with every booking is the last word in financial security, so there is no additional benefit in paying with a credit card.
Credit cards only provide additional cover when purchasing flights and holidays when they are purchased directly from airlines or travel agents/tour operators that do not issue ATOL certificates.
