Leaving your Riad, you step directly into the busy streets of the historic medina to begin your walking tour. Your guide will lead you through narrow alleys filled with the aroma of spices and hanging brass lanterns. This walk is about experiencing the real atmosphere of Marrakech, moving between high-energy marketplaces and quiet green spaces. In the afternoon you will attend a cooking demonstration and learn how to make tanjia, a different form of tagine.In the evening, explore the culinary side of the medina on a food tour, sampling market stalls before enjoying a traditional mechoui BBQ lamb experience at a local restaurant.

Shop to your heart’s content in the souk and search out spices, traditional jalabas and slippers, or the famous Moroccan lanterns. Visiting the Bahia Palace and the Medersa Ben Youssef in Marrakech is like stepping into a rich tapestry of Morocco’s history and architectural splendor. Finally, visit Le Jardin Secret, a beautifully restored 16th-century Saadian palace complex that offers a peaceful, contrasting sanctuary of elegant traditional Islamic gardens, vibrant exotic flora, and historic waterworks.
Not to be confused with the popular tagine, "tanjia" is distinct to Marrakech and one of the best local experiences for any traveller. Learn the history and culture behind this dish, then head to the market to pick up a clay vessel called tanjia - which the dish is named after - and the ingredients you will need, traditionally some meat and spices. Drop off your tanjia at the neighbourhood "furan" or communal oven to have it cooked in the ashes that heat the nearby hammam. The next day, pick up your tanjia and enjoy a delicious meal with the group.
Visit the olive market and sample a variety of olives. Next, head to the dried fruits and taste the local flavours before continuing to Chez l'Amine where you can enjoy Mechoui. a full lamb cooked underground and seasoned to perfection. The tasting ends with Moroccan sweets and tea at a local coffee shop overlooking the square.

When night falls, the pitch-black sky reveals a brilliant canopy of stars, where a local astronomer will guide you through an immersive telescope stargazing session.
Spend the morning cruising through quiet outskirts of the city by bicycle or vintage sidecar. After some free time, board your private coach for an excursion to a secluded desert camp for a traditional campfire dinner and a guided telescope stargazing session under a brilliant canopy of stars. On a clear day, the snow-capped or rugged peaks of the High Atlas Mountains rise majestically to your left, serving as a constant, dramatic backdrop that contrasts sharply with the flat plains.

Leaving the flat, bustling urban center of Marrakech, the road heads south toward the rural foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. As you travel to the village, the landscape opens up significantly. The road is bordered by expansive fields and mature olive groves. As the elevation gently rises, the dense city noise drops away completely, replaced by open country horizons and the dramatic, sweeping backdrop of the rugged Atlas peaks. Akrich is a quiet, traditional Moroccan village (douar) where the rhythm of life is entirely tied to agriculture. The town itself is characterised by low-slung, earth-toned and terracotta-colored homes that blend naturally into the sun-baked soil. Everything here revolves around agriculture. Here you will explore a local community project that protects regional heritage during an authentic and interactive experience.
Travel by private vehicle outside Marrakech to visit Achbarou, a rural Amazigh village, primarily known for the Achbarou Women's Cooperative

Along the route today the group will visit the Zarbiat Achbarou Cooperative where they will learn more about the work this G Adventures-supported initiative is doing to support the local community and preserve cultural heritage. Start with a brief explanation of the project and talk with the women who are gaining financial independence here as part of the community. Then experience a brief carpet weaving demonstration using wool and yarn dyed with local and organic plant-based ingredients. Afterwards, sit down and enjoy a traditional lunch of delicious Moroccan cuisine cooked with care by the local women of this cooperative. By participating in this experience, travelers help sustain local traditions and support the women of Achbarou in creating a brighter future for their community.
