Explore the highlights of Rome on our exciting stopover package. On arrival in Rome, you'll be met at the airport and driven to your hotel to check in for three nights. Head out into the city to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Rome - why not enjoy evening cocktails in near the Spanish Steps before tucking into the local specialty carbonara pasta.
On your first morning, you'll head out to enjoy a morning tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Learn about the physical and political battles that played out in the spectacular amphitheatre before heading to Palatine Hill, where Romulus founded the city of Rome. Finish in the Roman Forum, the heart of Ancient Rome, where the Via Sacra brought residents to the marketplace. Soak up the history of this incredible city before heading out to explore yourself in the afternoon.
On Day 3, you'll have all day to explore at your leisure, whether you're gazing in awe at the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, learning about the history of the Pantheon or tucking into tiramisu in the Piazza Navona area. In the evening you'll head out on a tour of the Trastevere neighbourhood, tasting local foods and enjoying the best of Rome's gastronomy. Enjoy fried artichokes, prosecco, suppli, amatriciana pasta and gelato - what a way to end the day!
After breakfast, you'll be driven back to the airport in time for your flight home.
Rome has a Mediterranean climate with chilly winters and hot summers. If you like the heat then Summer can be nice but the summer holidays are often busy, so we love to visit in Spring and Autumn, when the sun is out, the air is fresh and tourist numbers are a little lower.
