    Day 2 : Cairo/Aswān

    Fly from Cairo to Aswan today and visit both the High Dam and Philae Temple before boarding your cruise ship on the Nile. Enjoy the scenery along the river as you sail around Kitchener Island. Dinner will be enjoyed on the ship this evening.

    Aswan High Dam Visit

    Visit the High Dam of Aswan, built in the 1960s and considered an engineering miracle at the time. Learn about the history of the dam and its construction and enjoy views across Lake Nasser.

    Philae Temple

    Sail across the Nile to the beautiful island of Agilkia and explore the Greco Roman history of the Temple of Philae, built as a dedication to the Goddess Isis. This temple complex was moved from its original location on the Island of Philae after the flooding of Lake Nasser, the word "philae" meaning "the end" in reference to this island's placement on what was once the southernmost border of Egypt.

    Day 3 : Aswān/Kom Ombo

    The group will have a free morning to relax or book the optional visit to Abu Simbel. Then, the boat will sail to Kom Ombo with time to recharge on board as the scenery passes by.

Travel through Egypt’s rugged landscapes and the towering figures of Ramses himself, Ra-Horakhty, Amun, and Ptah will all be waiting to welcome you.

    Get ready this morning for an epic party and a once-in-a-lifetime event! Head to the cruise deck and enjoy the Solar Eclipse Viewing Party. After witnessing the day turn to night in a matter of seconds, toast to the sky. The path of totality will not appear in this region again in any of our lifetimes. After the eclipse, have lunch on board before sailing to Qena.

    Day 6 : Qena/Luxor

    Begin the day with a visit to Dandara Temple, one of Egypt’s best preserved temples. Sail back to Luxor and drive to the West Bank to meet your student guide for walk at the Funtasia Project Centre. This G Adventures-supported initiative has benefited the local community for years. Learn more over tea and an orientation with the students. Then, head to the Valley of the Kings to explore and take in the grandeur of this monumental place. Travel back to the ship for the evening.

    Dandara Temple Visit

    After arriving in Luxor visit Dandara Temple. Dedicated to Hathour, the Goddess of love and motherhood, the temple has tombs around the site that belong to the old kingdom. There's also some well known details on the ceiling that show the first calendar in the Ancient World. Dandara is often said to be the best preserved temple in Egypt. It sees fewer visitors than other sites in the area and yet is one of the most expansive.

    Funtasia Project Visit

    After breakfast the group will travel to the West Bank to meet our student-guide. Together we will walk through the village and visit the Funtasia Project Center where the group will learn about the Planeterra project at this location over tea with our guide. Funtasia is a local nonprofit that works with young people in the West Bank of Luxor to develop life skills and social consciousness. They work with youth in after school programs that teach art, communication, and social skills.

    Valley of the Kings Visit

    Cross the Nile to the west bank, passing through farmers fields on your way to the Valley of the Kings. Descend the narrow, rock-hewn corridors and take in the magnificent decoration and designs of the tombs of the pharaohs. While the treasure has now all gone, the tombs contain the incredible paintings of the life of their incumbent and stories from the Book of the Dead.

    Day 7 : Luxor/Edfu

    Visit both Luxor and Karnak temples before boarding your cruise ship on the Nile, passing through the Edna lock.

Evidence of ancient worship, Coptic Christianity and Islamic architecture are found throughout the temple, illustrating how the regional culture has evolved over several thousand years.

    Enjoy a visit to the Karnak Temple, which was once the centre of all religious life in ancient Egypt. Built and extended by successive generations of rulers, admire the amazing architecture, massive columns, and painted hieroglyphs.
